• Portland cement type one or ordinary Portland cement(OPC), designated P.C –Type I:
It is known as general-purpose cement. It is recommended for general construction (most buildings, bridges, pavements, precast units, etc) when making precast, and precast-prestressed concrete that is not to be in contact with soils or groundwater. It is generally assumed unless another type is specified.
• Portland cement type two, designated P.C. Type II:
It is produced to be resistant to sulfate attack. Sulfate attack is an important phenomenon that can cause severe damage to concrete structures. Since it has moderate sulfate resistance it is recommended for structures exposed to soil or water containing sulfate ions or when concrete is cast against soil that has moderate sulfate levels. This type of cement releases less heat during hydration when it is blended with water. It costs approximately the same as OPC.
• White portland cement (WPC)
It is similar to OPC in all respects, except for its high degree of whiteness. It is made with raw ingredients that are low in iron and magnesium, the elements that give cement its grey color. These elements contribute essentially nothing to the properties of cement paste. Since it is much more expensive than OPC, It is typically confined to architectural applications. It provides a wide range of decorative opportunities with key features of whiteness, high strength and durability.
WPC could be used to create many different colors of concrete, from pure whites to bright and pastel colors.
